Dubbed the FilAm Prince of Pop, singer-songwriter sensation Garth Garcia released his upcoming EP’s lead single, “Always in My Head” on Friday, October 13. It entered #2 on the iTunes Dance Chart.
Composed by German songwriter Stephen Baulig and produced by B Martin, this track has been three months in the making. It will have an accompanying music video out the same week, directed by Randal and Malou Kamradt.
This song differs drastically from Garcia’s usual style as it delivers more modern pop sounds, as opposed to his usual mellow and ballad-heavy tunes. Garcia is looking forward to exploring this new genre as he expands his musical capabilities. He is working with incredible collaborators on this new EP: American Idol alumnus Francisco Martin wrote “Lifelines” and Rasec Ortega collaborated on “Kiss Me Goodnight.”
“I still love to bring Pinoy flavor to what I am doing,” said Garcia. “Most of my newer songs are written by Filipino-Americans, but I always make sure to infuse Filipino flavor into them.”
“Always in My Head” tells the story of a man who can’t take his mind off of the woman he loves. Garcia’s unique storytelling ability and his passion for exploring different styles and genres are making waves in the entertainment world. With the support of some of the current industry’s most notable figures, Garcia is unstoppable. Garcia will also be a guest performer in Piolo Pascual’s shows in Alaska and Ohio. Pascual is a Filipino actor, musician, model, and producer who has won many awards for his work in the film industry.
“I love connecting with my audiences and making them a part of the show,” explains Garcia. “I love talking to them before or after performances.”
New genres aren’t the only new avenue that Garcia is exploring. He is also running his own events and record label business with hopes of helping other budding artists reach and navigate their goals. In addition, he will be acting in an upcoming Hollywood film called No Room for Love. This will be his third Hollywood film. Garcia also hopes to make it onto Broadway.
Aside from focusing on his music and acting careers, Garcia is also working to inspire and uplift the FilAm community. On October 27, he will receive The Outstanding Filipino Award for Volunteer Service (TOFA)— his second time receiving the esteemed honor.
“It is one of the most prestigious and award-giving bodies in the US for FilAms,” explains Garcia. “I’m grateful they appreciate the hard work we do for the community.
